The nervous System
How many diets have you tried—only to see the weight come back?
How many supplements worked for a few months… and then nothing?
Maybe you eat green beans and white fish, train at the gym, do everything right—and still can't lose that extra pound.
Or worse: your body feels completely desensitized to all your efforts.
And then you look around.
She's vibrant, glowing, smiling… but she drinks.
He smokes.
They eat “badly.”
They live freely.
So you wonder: What's wrong with me?
Nothing.
That's why we keep hearing: don't watch TV while eating, don't listen to a podcast…
But honestly—if it genuinely brings you joy, if it helps you relax, I don't see an issue.
The problem isn't stimulation.
The problem is stress.
If watching the news puts your body on alert, digestion shuts down.
If scrolling triggers comparison or tension, your nervous system stays in fight-or-flight.
But if music, laughter, or a comforting show helps you feel safe and at ease, your body can digest, assimilate, and regulate.
There are no rigid rules.
Only signals.
Your body doesn't respond to perfection.
It responds to safety.
Nothing is wrong with you.
Your nervous system is just stuck in fight-or-flight.
You can work with the best therapist, nutritionist, dermatologist—name it.
But if your nervous system never returns to a parasympathetic state, if it doesn't regain fluidity between its states (parasympathetic, alpha, beta), your body will keep struggling.
Yes, you might lose a few pounds at first—because the body adapts.
But eventually, the nervous system and endocrine system take over again… and the weight comes back. Sometimes even more.
Here's the paradox:
You can eat pizza with great company and barely spike your glucose.
Yet eat a “healthy” quinoa bowl alone—and trigger a spike.
Why?
Because it's not just what you eat.
It's how safe, relaxed, and connected you feel while eating.
Your nervous system leads everything.
Metabolism follows emotion.
Healing starts with regulation.
And that's why I'm inviting you to join me for a conversation about the nervous system on February 3rd.
Then on Friday the 6th at 12pm EST, I'll be live with Nina, co-facilitating that conversation even deeper.
I'm here to make things easy.
To simplify.
To demystify what healing actually means.
Healing isn't complicated—but the magic pill doesn't exist.
Because you are the magic pill.
Let me offer you the best of everything I've learned over the past 35 years of my life.
And yes—finally, you see Mom —my thirst for understanding how to truly take care of yourself, my obsession with beauty brands, and my love for eating healthy while still enjoying life… it's all paying off.
And I'm here, if you feel called to work with me ✨
With love,
Marine Sélénée
