How’s your gut doing these days?
How do you feel after eating: light and energized, or heavy and bloated? What happens after a stressful day? Do you find yourself binging, or do you take the time to cook something nourishing?
What’s your relationship with your stomach: love, frustration, indifference? And what about your microbiome? Do you go to the bathroom every day? How does your digestion feel overall?
I know these questions can feel uncomfortable, but they’re so important. Constipation or diarrhea are both signs that something’s off, unless your body is flushing out toxins or protecting you from food poisoning.
With new clients, one of the first things I do is a 7-day check-in to look at their overall lifestyle, habits, and emotional state, because the way we eat is deeply connected to how we live and how we feel.
Are you sensitive to gluten or dairy? Do you listen to your body’s needs, or do you tend to ignore the signs and reach for medication to make it go away?
I want to offer you two simple exercises to explore the connection between your emotions and your eating habits:
Gut Check-In: After each meal, take a moment to notice how you feel — both physically and emotionally. Do this for three days and see if what you eat aligns with how you feel.
Food Diary: For three days (two weekdays and one weekend day), write down what you eat and why. Were you hungry, sad, bored, or trying to comfort yourself?
This relationship with yourself, through awareness and honesty, is where vibrant health begins.
Happy gut, happy mind!
Especially if you struggle with anxiety, depression, or any kind of emotional imbalance.
Much Love,
Marine Sélénée
